how do you know if your bumblebee ciclids are males or females??

but is there a way to find out when there babys still its like 2 inchs long

While young both genders appear very similar in appearance, however as the male bumblebee cichlids (pseudotropheus crabo) mature and get larger they become darker in color, nearly black, while the female retains the juvenile yellow/black stripe pattern.

Reply to additional details: It's impossible to determine the gender of most young african cichlids. Males will resemble females until they mature. Gender indicators may appear at the 2.5"-3" size.

Bumblebees are one of the larger types of mbuna and males will max out around 8".
