I was just wondering how long you have to be on birth control before it starts to be effective...

3 months without any screw ups and on perfect dosage. It STARTS to work after 2 weeks, but its not fully effective until after your 3 month check up when the doctor makes sure you're taking the correct dosage for your body.
Dont listen to the other answers, I just got done going over this for the SECOND time with my doctor. It hasnt changed since a different doctor told me that when I was 18.
3 months. Until then, double up with condoms.

Don't take birth control! It messes way too much with your body (makes everything out of wack and even after you stopped taking it, it will still make conception difficult) and even though they say it's 99.9% accurate, it's not!! I know 7 out of 10 women that got pregnant while taking birth control. Don't want a baby - use a condom, keep your legs crossed, or the best method don't have sex.

It really depends on the brand and the amount of estrogen it contains. To be safe, I would say about a month (since that is what my doctor told me). It will give your body time to adjust to the change and it will also allow you to ensure your body is accepting this change well, meaning that your menstrual cycle is ok. Better to be safe than sorry....use another method for just 1 more month :-)
