I'm only 7 weeks pregnant, but I've been having a bit of cramping in the lower part of my stomach (almost like the cramping you get before a period) and probably once a day I've had a sharp pain in my right side. Is this normal? My sister just had a baby 2 months ago, and she never had any of these signs. I'm worried that it could be a possible sign of a miscarriage. Any help?

No, period like cramps are NOT a sign of miscarriage. Theyre a normal part of a normal pregnancy. Just about all women experience that for the first three months, to be replaced by the searing hot painful ache of pulling tendons and ligaments.

Severe doubling pain, and bleeding with clots are a sign of miscarriage.

Spotting and/or period like cramps arent. Although any spotting should be reported to your doctor so it can go on your file and he/she can tell you how it applies to you and your personal situation.

Cramping during pregnancy is usually fine. Cramping during early stages of pregnancy can mean several things. Inplantation and uterus growth are just some of the possibilities. If you are cramping from miscarriage you will typically start to bleed. At which point you should contact your physician. The thing is you are so early in your pregnancy that there isn't much anyone can do even if it is miscarriage. Sorry to sound insensitive. Take it easy and contact your doctor if there is any bleeding.

Good Luck!

No, its not normal. Um, sometimes our bodies still think they are able to get pregnant when they cant. Some women have periods the whole time they are pregnant others don't. It sounds like you have a cyst on your ovary. If you start to spot, go to the hospital, right away. It could be a sign of a miscarriage too.

You need to see a doctor. Everything is probably fine, but you could have an ecoptic pregnancy...one that forms outside of your uterus. Your doctor will be able to tell. Don't wait...call today.
