Blazing Saddles, one of the really great movies of all time, was rated R because the cowards in hollywood didn't want the kids to be exposed to the language, and sexual innuendo of the movie.
Dirty Harry, gee, where could I start, big guns, lots of blood, and, of course, Harry's attitude towards criminals, ie, better that they be dead than tried for their crimes. A movie I love.. LOL

I agree with you. Some parents are overprotective, and I think it is wrong. Do they honestly think that if the teens want to watch something, they won't find a way to watch it? That's lame. I think teens should be educated not only about how films are a fake and that it is generally a made-up story (except for films like Titanic- everyone has to watch Titanic at a certain time- the atmosphere was captured very well in the film), but teens need sex ed and they also have to be educated about violence and mobbing and diseases- all of this can be found in films. Why not show them something made up than waiting until they are confronted with these things in reality? it can also make people more aware about a topic when they see a film about a touchy topic, from a victim character's point of view- like emotional or physical abuse. And to the people on here saying that there are parents trying to protect their children: I'm sure you have good intentions, but just watching films won't "f*c*k" with a child's head, Give em some credit. Things like over restriction and control will though, believe me, I would know.

Blazzing Saddles- Nothing to worry about by today's standards. Farting around a campfire, punching a horse, some mild curse words, etc.

Dirty Harry- A little more to worry about, but still nothing like today. Lots of big bore gun shootings, although even these aren't all that gore and guts of today, Some f**k words but not all that many. Nothing hard core in the sex department either (that goes for Blazzing Saddles as well!)

SNEHNE- Nothing too much worth mentioning (niether is the movie!)

Cliffhanger- Some violence, but not too much. Some swearing, again not too much. And I think one mild sex scene. Lots of action though (as the name implies!)

Blazing Saddles was rated R probably for the language and the marijuana-smoking scene.

Dirty Harry had scenes of occasional nudity and frequent violence.

Not sure how the others got the R, though, but violent scenes are a good bet. Language in Richard Pryor's case! (RIP)

Any movie that contains the F word gets an automatic R rating.
I have found a number of R rated movies with no other objectionable content except language to be acceptable for my pre-teens.

Blazing Saddles has sexual references and language - but I let my 10 year old watch it -- with me in the room, of course!
{Note: I love all of Mel Brooks' works. We watch them as a family and address questions as they arise. Sometimes we have to make an editorial comment for the sake of being responsible parents.}

Dirty Harry is violent and may contain the F word

Blazing Saddles has sexual humor and fart jokes
Dirty Harry is violent and has some swearing
See No Evil Hear No Evil, same as Blazing Saddles
Ali, is violent and deals with adult situations
Cliffhanger, I have no idea, never saw it.
I think they really worry about kids freaking out over adult situations, and racial stereotypes, which Blazing Saddles also makes fun of.

I'm not sure about the others, but Cliffhanger has graphic violence and graphic language throughout the movie. However, it is a very good and very underrated action movie from 1993 when Stallone was at the top of his game. It is not for kids.

Blazing Saddles: language, including the word n****r.

These movies contain sexual content, racial remarks, and violence. Most kids movies are limited to the material they can have. This applies to all except Ali , I can't answer on that one I haven't seen it.
