In my opinion any rock lyrics fail miserably in comparison to the extreme depth and meaning of rap lyrics from the 80s and 90s. Plus OLD SCHOOL rap is much more poetic aswell. I think OLD SCHOOL rap is definitely better lyrically.

Old School Rock! Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, The Dead, Heart, The Who and of course the masters themselves THE BEATLES! All these great artists not only had something to say but they had depth, emotion not to mention an incredible capacity to use metaphors. Now I know that there may have been a couple of Old School Rappers who could say the same but there were more bands and artists in my opinion performing Rock that did it so much better. You just have to go back farther than the 80's and 90's more like th 60's and 70's in order to find any rock worth comparing.

ok this is how it goes...for a short time period, what some people call vintage rock (not folk rock) (60s&early70s) was king. it had deep lyrics, with symbols, a point and meaning. NOTHING THEN OR NOW COULD TOUCH THE POETIC LYRICS OF OLD ROCK SONGS. some 80s-early 90's songs have GREAT lyrics ,but...

well if you look at if from a serious position i think rock, but not any type of rock i think death metal or anytype of metal in that case if you look at the lyric for the songs you will understand the genious behind the people who wrote the songs, you will also see that metal uses many words that rap wouldn't even come close to useing such words liek bucoilc degraduation absloution and so on and so forth therefore i believe that the genious song writers are the metal song writers. pluz almost all rap talks bout women and ***** them and all that stuff, where meatl if anything talks abou loseing the women in their life and they acutally show care for it.

first of all I wanna say that rap isn't all rubbish on the instant, maximum human beings think of that rap is rubbish is by using what they hear on the television or radio and particular maximum of it relatively is rubbish, what human beings are not listening to is all of the different rap they do no longer play on television and rubbish it relatively is the place its at. the version between rap and rock lyrics are rap lyrics clarify what is going on in there existence and there atmosphere. So the main significant reason rap lyrics are approximately killing, drugs, gangs and all that it relatively is in view that's what there existence is approximately it does not meant that rapper does any of that its purely they have been stated around all of that. additionally you cant examine rap and rock mutually they are thoroughly diverse.

An old school rap song would be (fight the power) by Public Enemy. or (Brenda's got a baby) by Tupac. Is that what you mean? If it is then these had meaning.
