Absolutely not. consider staying at a timeshare/condo type place where you have a kitchen, bedrooms so you don't have a universal bedtime. Book a Character dinner at the hotel and then depart the "world" other then visiting the parks. Save your money, Disney will get it one way or the other!

I spent my honeymoon night it the Disneyland hotel in Orlando Florida in 1970. The cost was high and I got nothing special. The monorail came through the hotel and picked up the guests inside the hotel. The meals were expensive. Even with all of this it was memorable.
You must balance the cost of the stay and trip to what your children will say and see and the memories they will have as they grow up. The Hotel is a very large, yet hollow, triangle about 10 to 15 stories high. The rooms are nice the employees are nice and helpful, (Disney trains them a long time to be that way before releasing them into the park.) The monorail swoshes in with a hum and a hiss as it glides in on the single rail. The train is an electric train and is very roomy. There are food courts next to the rail line along with gifts shops. The ride is exciting and high off the ground so you can see many things before you get the main intrance of the park. Your children will enjoy it alot. Look call the better business buero and find the times when it is an off season for the park. Ask them for any packages that can lower the cost. Ask if there is any discounts for a family your size if you stay at the hotel.
Because there are several employees in charter suits (multibles of each charter) teach your children to say to each them " My name is ------ " before talking to the charters of Micky or Minie or Donald or what ever charter it is. Tell your children ,( it they are real young), that they see a lot of children and it is hard to remember all their names. These Charters are taught to hug and be helpful to children and make a good empression on them. There is no hanky pany allowed by Disney. Disney won't put up with that type of beheavor. It is a fun place to be with children. There are so many things to see and do and some of them are free. It would take a month of sundays to see it all. The ride are not free. However there maybe a few rides of antiqueity that may be but for the most part no. You will enjoy yourself and the children will have memories for years.

I have stayed at several of the Disney properties and here is my opinion...you pay for the name and the location. The rooms are average size, nothing spectacular and the Disneyland Hotel is one of the oldest of it's properties, so keep that in mind.
There are some perks however, the monorail runs between the park and the DL Hotel, they have a Disney character breakfast at most park hotels, the pool at DL Hotel has a Peter Pan theme which is cool, but the pool may not be heated during the winter.
I prefer the Grand California. It is a little more expensive for a standard room, but it is newer property and has a private entrance from the hotel into California Adventure. Their pool also has a slide :-) The Grand California is a little more upscale
I would say if you are staying for several days and make a good vacation of it your kids will enjoy any of the DL properties. If you live close and are going for the weekend only stay at one of the hotels nearby the park and take the shuttle.
Any of the DL theme hotels are really extensions of the park itself where the vacation and fantasy continue even after you have left the park and the service is an extension of the DL service.
Have fun!

well. i stayed at Disney World resorts over the past summer and it was amazing. there is a club that you can join to get points to stay at the hotel. it is the Disney Vacation Club. my parents signed up this past summer and now we can go to Disney almost any time we want and stay at a disney hotel. the hotel's are great. they have mini-grocery stores, snack bars, game arcades...and sometimes more than one pool! they are really nice and it depends on where you stay at for the price. it is really worth the price though. they treat you with respect..unlike some other hotels. the only reason my family stayed in a disney hotel was because we got treated like crap and stuck in a two bed (sleeps 4) hotel room with 4 kids and 2 adults. too small. there are different sized rooms to fit your needs. hope this helped!

I stayed at the California Grand Hotel. It was cool because they lobby has a kid area and it was also cool becasuse the lobby was nice and big with a fireplace. The rooms were pretty nice.... If you are going to be spending a lot of cash inside the park, then stay at a diffrent hotel. If you will be stay lots of time in the room, stay there. Have a fun trip!!!!!
