I work at a pool as an instructor of swimming. I am only 15 years old and school is my main prority during the winter months. I started this job last summer. I love my job, and I love doing it, but I have working in the winter when I have school work to do. My boss is constantly calling me and pushing me to work more and more. I gently tell him I have school work and cannot commit much time to work, but he doesn't take it well. (He keeps calling and asking.) It has gotten to the point that as much as I like my co-workers, I just can't stand all the pressures of school and outside work. How do I tell my boss that I can't work as much because of school? Please help, guidance, suggestions? Thank you.

Good for you for your outlook on school and life and good question. Can you set a maximum number of hours a week you will work and tell him to not call for any more than that or you'll have to find another job where the pressure to work more hours than you can handle will be less? Give it a shot. Be honest about the pressure and stress you feel and firm in your request for X number of hours and no more. If he's got any brains, he'll get the message. (Some guys don't have much for brains.)

Yeah..i had a similar problem last year...i was in a lot of the honors courses in my school last year and i just got done with field hockey season moving into basketball season. I wasn't enjoying basketball much and my school work was finally taking a toll on me. I decided I wanted to quite but was mostly afraid ofwhat all my teammates would say afterward. eventually i quite basketball and my grades improved, but your situation is different since you enjoy your job. If i were you i would have a talk with your boss and explain to him howmuch your work means to you and if he doesnt understand maybe you should take a brake from your job for a while

Talk to him the same as you explained here. If he still does not get it, then quit.

Just like you said to us. Say I know you would like it if I could work more, but I can't because my studies will suffer.

thanks for your confidence in me.
