What a perfect question at this time. It depends on what you need more, a communications device or a music device. Why I said its a perfect question because Apple recently introduced its amazing iPhone which does internet, phone, and iPod all in one along with state of the art technology. Also, your price point if you can afford a good cell phone that can perform mp3 capability then you can have both music and cell phone in one. But remember that once you purchase a cell phone that you will need to decide between a contract or pay as you go. Hope that helped.

Although I have both, I'd rather have a cell phone. You can have music on a cell phone but you can't call people on an ipod.

You obviously haven't heard of the upcoming iPhone from Apple. It will be an iPod video with either a 4 or 8 GB version and a phone ...and a navigation aid and basically a blackberry all in one. Best of all, no buttons to wear out. Its all touch screen.

when your car breaks down, an iPod isn't gonna help you.
when your friends need to find you, listening to Kelly Clarkson isn't going to tell them where you are.
when you miss your grandma, watching that new usher video won't help.
iPods will just keep getting cheaper, better, and improve year after year. the function and usefulness of a phone will not change much. if nothing else, find a cell phone that plays MP3s like mine :)

I'd get a cell phone that has an mp3 player in it, for example, the Sony Ericsson z525a from cingular.
