The word caravan has a Kurdish root and in ancient times it was used for a group of people who were traveling by camel or horse on the silk road.
Gypsy's qualify.
But so do many other desert nomadic tribes that moved from place to place to hunt, graze their livestock, or plunder other nomads.

Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree!
