It'll definately raise the price of American made products because employers need to make a profit somehow. That's why they're in business. And guess who'll be paying the price - all of us.
Once again the Dems. are showing just how short-sighted they are when it comes to solving problems. And raising the minimum wage is just the beginning. Hold onto your shorts!!
As for those who argue, people can't live on the minimum wage, they're right, but one isn't supposed to. Those type of jobs are for teenagers and those starting out in the work field, not for the main wage earners.

I'm annoyed that they are trying to make a federal minimum wage at all. There is too much variation in cost of living in different regions for one wage everywhere. This is a poor solution to the problem.
"Won't it just push more jobs overseas, and raise the price of American made products even more?"
That's a common position that big business is taking - although I think if they tried they could come up with alternatives that would keep consumer prices level.
Both sides of this issue seem to be looking for an easy fix, and there just isn't one. It's going to a lot of creative thinking and cooperation to solve this one.

I think you need to realize that not everyone has the option of a college education and to this demographic 7.25 is the best that they can do, and I'd rather have them making that 7.25 then waiting on a welfare check that comes out of the Income Taxes that I pay on each and every one of my paychecks. Buy American and the next time more jobs are being sent overseas complain to that company and boycott their products. Don't punish the little guy!

No, I'm not annoyed. The minimum wage as it is now is not a living wage. I have students whose parents have minimum wage jobs, and they barely survive. The main reason jobs get shipped overseas is the corperate fat cats want to make as much money as possible; so instead of paying an American a good wage, they take advantage of the people overseas who will work for any amount no matter how little. Some people do not have the intelligence to get a college degree. Should their lack of intelligence be a reason to deny them a living wage?

Oh gawdforbid that people should receive better wages. What do you subscribe to? Dollar a day labourers?? Then the price of American made products could be slashed and more jobs could be brought back from overseas by creating slave labour in the United States.
My dear, get your head out of your butt and open your eyes! You are probably the first person to bytch when people are on welfare, yet those who manage to find a job and are forced to take low pay, you begrudge them a meager increase in their income.
And don't give me that rubbish about how they should find a higher paying job or they should go to school and get an education. Not everyone in your fine country has had the opportunities that you've likely had.

So, you imagine that individuals operating at a minimum salary job should be at liberty to truly have a role. You do recognize that usa is interior the approach catastrophic unemployment? a lot of those unemployed man or woman were making tremendous income, and that i do not think they could be content cloth operating for a minimum salary very lengthy. we are immediately drawing near the former u.s. with the Republican social gathering because they have a heritage of putting human beings to artwork by technique of making a tremendous protection pressure arsenal. It already is in position to a tremendous degree in this usa. The Republican social gathering believes in "Conservative Communism" pro with jingoistic propaganda. i'm confident that believers in Republican social gathering are unknowningly provide their money away to an avalanche of company welfare classes. notwithstanding, it really is strictly how the former u.s. collapsed by technique of funding a mass protection pressure and some Communists elite; regrettably, we are headed interior of the same direction immediately. Republicans are schizophrenic, and their insanity is what created this finished mess we are in now. we've a $12trillion usa debt; yet, we nonetheless ought to pay for 2 wars, a spoil economic device, a spoil infrastructure, an less than-funded public training and health care device comparable to the former u.s.. Now you recognize the way the Republican social gathering plans on spending your tax money see you later as they are in skill. do not you undergo in ideas what the CEOs did once they were given the bailout money? They went out and partied on your tax money that Bush gave them. some rescue plan! What you do not seem to appreciate is that once the better inhabitants is earning a higher living salary they could pay extra taxes that ought to pay for the all the initiatives that are necessary in a civilized society. Or do you imagine magical elves will make those mandatory reconstructions to ensue at the same time as usa is in a deep sleep? Regardless, you should get your priorities right now, so I recommend you go again to college and procure a real training to remedy your hypocrisy.

This is not acceptable, the minimum wage should be based on education. The person who quits high school should work for a less amount than a high school grad.
And as for the meat of this question 7.25 would be right for the non-grad but for the high school grad it should be 9.25 per hour.

the price of living keeps going up..........SOARING.....
yet the average rate of pay never seems to increase significantly enough (for the lower income class who would be making the $7.25/hr) to make any difference in the quality of life for people,
people need to be able to make enough $$$ to live, not just exist (barely)....I think that's a pretty low minimum wage.
it's up to government to figure out the issues and to try and solve the problems that might go along with this, not the poor people who can barely make ends meet, and who are looking for a little raise in pay.
