You can use WinAmp or RealPlayer if you don't want to use iTunes.

With i-TUNES: first off, if you all ready have i-tunes set up on your computer, just either buy them off the i-tunes music store or put in your cd and click import. THe next time you plug in your i-POD it will automaticly put the music on to it
P.S you can play music videos on your nano.
Without i don't think u can, or at least i've never heard of a way.
Good Luck

Well, you can only import the songs through iTunes (to my knowledge0, but that does not mean you have to buy all your songs. You may get them illegally ( I don't reccomend it), through limewire, or off CD's. You can get your friends t burn CD's for you, then you can import them and input the information (such as name of song, artist, genre, etc.)
