Where can I purchase a SIM card that will allow me to use my USA based T-Mobile Blackberry 8700g while travelling in Spain without incurring excessive roaming charges?

Also, what can I expect in terms of cost? I'm assuming that per minute usages fees in Spain will be similar if I'm making local calls and significantly higher if I call the USA. Any thoughts on where I can go (online?) to purchase this once I have had the phone unlocked?

some online stores, for example, http://www.pandasim.com/prepaid-sim-card.html provide a sim card for traveling in one countries, that is called country-specific prepaid sim card. it allows you a local spanish phone number and you just pay local rates for the call you made. in case a country-specific card is unavailable, you can find a internationl sim card for a contintent, for instance, Europe sim card.

They should be able to sell you one for not more than $20 or $30US. Also, before you leave, make sure that you go to a T-Mobile store and have them unlock your phone, or else the foreign sim card will not be recognized by your phone.
