it sure seems like that sometimes. I am 23, and I don't drink. Most people seem to think I am some kind of mustant or something because of it. I also find the bar/club scene to be pretty much the most boring places on earth. The problem is that I live in NYC and that seems to be the only thing anyone my age does around here.

Well the other problem is that I work nights.. so the only things open late on my days off and when I get out of work are bars. And no I am not Muslim... and I don't have a moral issue with drinking... It's just not my thing.

Yes, you are the only one who doesn't like social drinking and dancing. Alcohol was invented to bring people together.
I bet you'd change your mind if I could take you out drinking and dancing, and I'm only in boring Minnesota. :o)

What are you interested in doing? If it is not the bar scene, you need to find something of interest to you. Hang out at a golf club or museum. I'm sure you will find people of similar interests if you just try...especially in NYC.

When I was your age I felt the same way.
It is too noisy, too smoky, I am not a good dancer.
If you go in to the bathroom chances are good that some drunk chick will want to fight you about something or other.
I tried going along because I felt like an outsider for not liking those things.
I wish I would have stuck to my guns a little more and not gone along with the crowd.

Hey Im 19 and im not into those things. Someone asked me "Sooo, what do you do for fun..?"
I said "I study Arabic." His jaw dropped hahaha.
Anyway, Im sure oyu can find like a yoga, or book club or something. Figure out your passion and then join a club in NYC or take lessons. Im sure there's a lot to do in NYC. And dont listen to anyone who puts you down. 20 years down the road you will be without STDs, bad liver or criminal records :)

Congratulations ! It seems to me that not all the people your age are out there to waste their valuable time with drinking and visiting places like bars where the mode of ignorance predominates.

Are you Muslim? Heheh, we don't drink or anything. There's other ways to have fun you know. Besides, those scenes aren't for people of high morals if you ask me. Peace.

No. It's just that the idiots are the loudest. You don't want to be like the loudmouths.
