I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant. I am having braxton hicks contractions, which I am okay with accept, that they are like 5 minutes apart and I am getting just a slight pain in my back and sometimes in my abs. I have had increase discharge all day almost like a mucusy creamy white color. my BH contractions are lasting for a good 40 seconds or more and if I get up and walk around I have them as well. Sometimes I can feel some pain in my butt too as crazy as that sounds. Well, is this something I need to be concerned about??? What should I do??? Has anyone had this before?

If they are regular, and cause you to stop walking or make you draw a quick breath, It may well be labour. Go to the hospital and get checked out. They won't laugh at you if you are a first time mom. The worst that will happen is they will tell you to go home until it hurts more.

I had braxton hicks contractions less than 5 minutes apart almost every day for 2 weeks before my delivery with my first child. Try drinking as much water as you can hold down and if they are getting harder and closer together in the next 3 or 4 hours then you should call the doctor. You are probably having false labor though. Also take a warm bath and if they don't calm down after the water and the bath then it could be true labor.

Good Luck!

You may be in labor. Do the contractions increase when you walk? The pain in your butt might be the baby's head coming down. The discharge could be your mucus plug. What criteria did your doctor give you for going to the hospital? If you are not sure I would go if they get strong enough that they hurt or become any closer together. Try walking for awhile to see if you go into active labor.

braxton hicks contractions should not be occuring every 5 minutes. you are having real contractions. you should definitly get yourself to the hospital immediately the pain in your butt is probably the pressure you are feeling from your baby pushing down. you are in full labor!!! good luck and congrats and hurry you gotta go NOW!!

Lay on your left side and take it easy for a hour. If you are REALLY in labor it won't go away. It will get persistantly worse. If you are NOT in labor it should just go away.
The pain you are feeling in your bottom could be two things
1. siatic nerve
2. The urge to push( normally meaning your baby is crowning
If you can still handle being on the computer, It isn't the urge to push.)
You can always go to the hospital and be monitored. Don't be embarassed they are used to it.
Good luck with your sweetie.

Call your doctor. Rule is usuall 4-4-1. Last 4 minute, 4 minutes apart for more than 1 hour. If you see blood (bright red) or your water breaks go to the hospital.

CALL YOUR DOCTOR NOW. I had what I thought were b-h contractions all day and had my baby that night. And it was my fourth baby. I had never had a doubt with the others, but I just didn't know with the last one. Each pregnancy is different. Regular contractions, painful or not, should be checked out immediately.

I would say this is the real deal! When I had my last child I only felt my contractions in my back, butt and upper thighs. I would check with your doctor or midwife. They will instruct you on what to do!
Congratulations and Good Luck!

Braxton Hicks don't usually come regularly. You should get checked out.
