I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do. It really gets on my nerves when people are like "That's so ghetto." Ghetto is not an adjective, and it does not describe everything corny. It is almost always somebody who knows nothing about the ghetto.

it is stereotyping
but doesn't ghetto mean something like "down and out"
I don't know the exact defination given in websters, but....
I'm not sure what you mean, except for the fact that maybe you are insulted because you do the very best that you can possibly do, at this time in your life, you also know other people that are striving to do so, and they have to live in a place such as a ghetto
if you know of any ghettos that are wonderful places to live, then please enlighten us......and good luck with everything

Disagree on the term. Worrying about the language used detracks from understanding the problems.

Agree that people who never lived in such a place will have a distorted view. Fortunately there are enough people who'se lived in such places to write the truth of what its like to live there and what their concerns are.

don't feel bad that they said it just feel bad for them that thay really don't know what a ghetto is.........and more people should be schooled on just what rhe meaning is .....here goes........a run down section of a city in which a minority group lives because of poverty or social pressure. .................that to me doesn't necessarily mean a high crime or bad place to live........some of the best and descent people i know either live or have lived in the city ghetto areas.....and i point out ....it is still the city !!!!!...put that in your pipe and smoke it !!.

The "ghetto" is a bad place; drugs, killing and unsafe. I wouldn't my children living in one. If you can't afford a better neighborhood than that's a plausible excuse, otherwise I wouldn't. I like black people though...why do you care so much..?
