I think it's sad that anyone thinks they should have the right to deny others their chosen form of entertainment. I would definitely jump in. Anime and Manga and any good quality animation are excellent entertainment, they are also good windows into Japanese culture, and sometimes they even teach a good lesson, all while they are exciting and fun to watch. I think instead of banning stuff, they should watch it, read it and experience with their kids and then talk about it. What's wrong with speding some quality time TALKING with your children? If more people did it, maybe this would be a better world, where people remember what it's like to be around others.

Blanket bans and censorship don't work. They would be an underground distribution of the banned books or tapes. Parents should have an open discussion with their children about why they find some books or movies objectionable. Then with the kids they work out a solution for their family and situation. But this would require that parents and kids come to the table with open minds and be willing to work on a compromise that respects everyone.

I would take some serious action, I'm already upset with some lady whose trying to get Harry Potter books banned from our schools, if I'm tempted now to hit her over the head just wait until they start doing that! I'd be on the streets with every Narutard and other Anime lovers fighting with my fist! Lol. Gawd, I hope your not predicting the future...nah they wouldnt ban it, its too big of a thing now.

All forms of anime and manga also include Looney Tunes.
I think that what you mean is Japanese anime and manga.
Talk to Koreans and Chinese for first hand experiences. And I tell you, they still get their anime and manga.
Officially shunned, unofficially mass distributed.
Anyway, the people who supported the people who ban things and/or wish things to be ban are usually the same people who supported the people who produce/distribute things and/or wish things to be never banned.
The goal? So that people will fight each other.
The argument to ban or not ban is usually created to make people fight each other, NOT to protect people from the banned things.
Just relax, these same people who supported the people who ban things will probably support the people who produce/distribute black market things. You would still get your fixes, through the black market.
And may I remind you, a few decades ago USA university students usually get their anime and manga fixes through the grey and black market.
And may I also remind you, around a century ago USA citizens usually get their alcohol fixes through the grey and black market. Both the police and the organized crime know the whole prohibition is just a sham, so they just play around, playing cops and robbers.

It wouldn't work because of a little thing called "freedom of speech". They would be able to censor adult content, but aside from that they wouldn't be able to prevent underground trade or free trade outside the limits of their power. If they started to gain enough power to threaten even this, you can bet I would be writing some angry letters if it happened in my area.
For instance, they might be able to pressure the school board to keep it out of the schools but you could still read it on your own outside school hours if you have the ability to purchase it yourself. They might have enough pressure to influence local libraries to get rid of it, but I doubt it. So as long as your own parents weren't part of the group, or if you are over 18, you could still get the anime or manga you wanted.

Fortunately being in America, it wouldn't happen due to the first amendment in the constitution. However anytime the censors lick their chops at any good anime that contain violence, gore, obscenities, or language; it's hidden from view. Dang this silly "puritannical" society's way of thinking!! GAWD!!!!?
Lol though, I could imagine 10 yr olds with huge crayola signs saying "Save the dog demon" and "Sailormoon loves you even if you don't love her back". =^_^=

I wouldn’t cry if they got rid of hentai. Much as I like some anime characters, life would not come to an end. There are more important things.
