We give gifts to others to honour Christ, as did the three wise men. If we really want to give a gift to Jesus, we can give to people outside our main circle of friends or age group.
Each year I give candy and other little things to an elderly people in my street. It makes their day.

Many people celebrate Christmas who are not religious. At the same time, many who are religious choose not to celebrate Christmas as it stemmed from Pagan rituals and Jesus was not even born in the winter, according to the Bible and its scholars.

Christmas is only expensive if you make it that way. When people were on hard times and didn't have money to spend (Depression era for example), they still made the most of things and enjoyed the holidays for what they were. The buying frenzy is actually a fairly recent thing in history. No one is holding a gun to your head saying you must spend several thousand dollars that you don't have on Christmas gifts. But yet they constantly complain that they are being forced to.

If you want to give gifts to Jesus, donate your time and services to someone in need. Donate used clothing and books to a battered women's shelter. Donate food to a local food bank. The Salvation Army (which is a religious organization) has a program during the holidays called the Giving Tree where you can purchase a gift for a underpriviledged child or adult who otherwise would not get anything.

Christmas, like every other religious or non-religious holiday, is what you make it. Christmas should never be about the money that is spent. People like being generous at this time of year. This is the time when charities receive their greatest contributions, and a time when people enjoy doing something thoughtful and nice for the most important people in their lives. But these kind things can be done with on a budget, it is the thought and the thoughtfulness of the gift that matters most.
Random acts of kindness, doing things for charitable organizations, church work, working a night in soup kitchen or serving meals at a local homeless shelter...these are the acts that become the gifts we gift to Christ. These are just some of the ways we can honor Him on his birthday, among others.

In my home we limit the number and cost of gifts so that the gifts don't become the focus of the season. the best gift I recieved this year was a $5 paperback book and it means more to me than a hundred gifts. The gift is a token of the spirit. but many feel that the gift is the spirit. Maybe those of us that understand the true meaning of Christmas (the same ones that understand "pay it forward") Should teach someone every day what it really means to celebrate Christmas.

If you can show me any where in scripture where it says to celebrate the birth of the Messiah...I will celebrate it with you. It is a day that was invented by man. (nicean creed 325 AD). why should recieve a gift because The Messiah was born? The thought is as crazy as a rabbit that lays eggs. In other words...Easter. Christians got there facts all screwed up and have no idea how lost they really are. They are celebrating pagan holy days with out even knowing it.

Jesus didn't say to have Christmas to celebrate his
birthday. Man did. One winter a man was walking near
the woods, and noticed how pretty the Fir trees were
with snow on them. So he cut one down and brought
it home. This was the first Christmas tree. A Teacher
I worked with found that information, and shared it with her class.
I was walking in the woods behind my Friends house,
when I walked into a clearing outside of the woods.
The sun was shining, and there was a site breeze.
i saw something in a big pile , shinning. Blowing in the
breeze, and shinning in the sun light was the Tinsel on
a big pile of dead Christmas trees. I had come upon
the Towns Christmas Tree dump. That stopped me from
having real Xmas Trees.
This year for the first time I didn't have Xmas.
It's just too materialized. They have taken the fun out
of it. Now it's just toooo costly. The Kids expect these
over priced gadgets, like it's due to them. I don't have Teen kids,
so I got away with it. Now it's just getting my
Relatives used to it.

The beauty of Christmas and Jesus is that Jesus doesn't ask us to give him gifts. All we have to do is accept his gift of eternal life by accepting him as our personal saviour. The reason spending at Christmas is so high is bc ppl ask each other for expensive gifts (jewelry, computer games, etc.).

Xmas is so expensive because: YOU the Global CONSUMER allows it to be!

Simply:

YOU DO NOT object to outrageous and riddiculous prices of everything > > > from cards, to wrapping, to stickers and ribbons, to actual purchased gifts ... etc., etc.

Ever hear about MAKING a gift?
Ever consider GIVING yourself ... via volunteering, or simply being there as a true friend/neighbor/relative???

There is NO Christ in Xmas.
There most certainly is CON$UMERI$M!!

Xmas is so expensive because we live in the world of consumption. Xmas should be a celebration for our soul. We are suppose to be reborn along with Jesus Christ. Us instead we care only of the gifts and food and cloths.

Doesn't have to be expensive. Few things for the kids and instead of buying cards and presents for grown ups why not give a donation to a worthwhile charity?
