I've tried and tried to eat those things and they still taste like dirt.

I cut "fresh ones" in half, put in a heated and oiled frying pan with some balsamic vinegar and brown sugar and saute them until they are soft and squishier. I sometimes chop up parcuitto and serve it warm.
I have had people eat them and wonder "why" it took them so long!
I love them- they are my favorite next to Spinach.

OMG They are my favorite I LOVE THEM. But I hated them until last year and I'm 52, so some day them may be your favorite, too.
