For a start, violence against anybody, man woman or child is against the Law. No one should try to control another human being through any method. A person who has been abused will suffer emotional scarrs for the rest of their lives. When someone treats another person like they are nothing more than a punching bag, but claiming they are loved would have be be totally confusing, that is why a battered woman will make excuses and blame herself saying that she deserved it. Self esteem, pride is all destroyed, and if it goes on long enogh the abused person will lose all semse of reality. You only have to read about the atrocities of war where they used psycholgical tricks to get confessions out of people. We are talking about very strong people who were raised with Military Standards. but they were broken down. Mind games are a powerful tool to break a person. Violence against women, is not so much the physical act, but what it is doing emoitonally. It is saying I love you, but I am going to beat you up for your own good?....Hell, where is the logic in that. Of course it will have a negative effect on all aspects of the abusees life...It will impact greatly on the way she raises her children. I will impact on the way she talks to friends. It will impact on how she succeeds in a job...it impacts in every way. She is walking on eggshells every day of her life wondering if she is going to or say something wrong and will be beaten for it. You lose youself eventually, you lose who you once were. It destroys our basic human rights. But the worst thing is that it is not just contained to the abuser and the abusee, it impacts on the children as well, so they are learning how to treat a woman, and the cycle continues.

I believe we are a product of our environment, and if we are raised in a dysfunction family where it is ok to hit a woman/man in order to gain control, then how can we possibly grow up with healthy minds. So many Laws have been passed to protect a person, but being confronted with violence and a total lack of respect would cause anyone to grow up with a warped idea about love. Violence against anyone violates our basic human rights.
