A 20gallon tank is not large enough for more than one small turtle. You will need a basking bulb (in a clamp lamp fixture) and a fluorescent UVB bulb and fixture. Be sure the UVB bulb has at least 7% UVB output. UVA is light you can see and is in every bulb! It's important for diurnal reptiles of all kinds to have a UVB bulb. It metabolizes calcium. Without a UVB bulb your turtle's shell will become soft and it will end up dying from MBD (metabolic bone disease) I HIGHLY suggest you research as much as you can before purchasing one of these pets. Turtles are much different and much harder than fish. Go to www.repticzone.com and click on the water turtle section. Please ask any of the turtle experts there about other husbandry things before getting a turtle! It's really important.

No. You need a UVA/UVB lamp and a basking lamp. Fluorescent bulbs do nothing for turtles. I also recommend you get a bigger tank ASAP especially if you have more than one. A 20 gallon won't even be big enough for one water turtle.

A florescent light does not put off heat, you'll still need a hot spot where your turtles can bask. Try a clamp light.

What kind of turtle? Many need heat and an aquarium light will not be enough. Many also need a UVA/UVB source as well. Without these things, he wont live long.

Your important concern is purely too small a tank. Get the biggest one you could arise with the money for, in terms of area and funds. Wading swimming pools are somewhat affordable, in case you have the gap. you choose UVB except you're offering diet D interior the load-help plan. you in addition to mght choose a mild to furnish warmth to the basking section. a known incandescent bulb will artwork. purpose for ninety°F.
