SecondLife, that's online, free, and good graphics. There's also
Sims Online, that's paying, but it's probably the best I can give you.
There are lots of RPGs (Role Playing Games) where you don't own a home, like Runescape (www.miniclip.com) and if you google "MMORPG online free games" I do believe there's a list somewhere of really good ones.
