I'm due the 1st week of July.... when would be the proper time to have a baby shower? Most my friends are prego also but they are due before me(one a week b4 and the other a month) I would really like them to be there... help whens the right time to have your shower???

I would say may be the end of May would be a good time so your friends can be at you baby shower and also to ensure no one goes into labor. Good luck.

It's not proper etiquette to give yourself a baby shower. Is someone else throwing the shower for you? If so, you should talk to her about dates for the shower. Let her know that your friends are due in June and you would like them to attend, so you want to have the shower in mid-to-late May. That's a nice time of year almost anywhere anyway, so the temperature would be comfortable and people could be seated outdoors for the food and cake. You probably don't want to upstage your friends by having your shower before theirs since their babies are due first, so find out when their showers will be, also. Is a group shower a possibility for you? That could be a lot of fun! Your babies will grow up together, so it might be a nice idea to have everyone share in the happiness of their arrivals together. Just a thought.
Anyway, sometime in May sounds good to me. Have a great time and enjoy your baby!

I had both of mine a month before hand. I think it up to the person who is throwing the shower. Your job is just to show up and be happy. I know people having their shower close to the due date and missed it, or came with the baby. If your concern just ask if your shower could be in your 8th month. Good luck.

Most do it at 34-36 weeks. I had mine at 32 weeks. I had a cute belly but wasn't miserable yet. Plus it was sooooo hot out. I've heard before 25 weeks (when a fetus can survive with support) is bad luck. Dont necessarily believe in luck.
FYI: do not buy any clothes for the baby before your shower.

I would do a May shower, I was due in July w/ my daughter & my shower was in June. I was in labor during my shower...fun! My mother & mother in law hosted & opened my gifts & rushed over the car seat . Any time after 28 weeks in normal!

You don't plan your shower, your best friend does. If you have several friends who are pregnant and close enough, perhaps you want to have a joint shower, but it would be better if your non-pregnant friends took the initiative for you. The reason you don't do it is that it would sound like you were just asking for gifts; "come shower me with gifts" sounds a little tacky, doesn't it? But "come help us shower our friend with gifts" is just fine.

The shower should be whenever those who are giving you the shower feel that it is appropriate. It has nothing to do with having one before or after you learn the sex of the baby, they were having baby showers long before the technolgy to find out the sex of the baby was available.

If I were you, i'd do it about 3 or 4 weeks before your first pregnant friend is due. It might sound a little selfish, but if she's already got her baby with her when she comes, the attention could quicky turn from you and your baby to the one everybody wants to hold.

you can really have it whenever you want--most people do about a month before baby arrives.
Im having my first any day now-- we picked up everything we needed along the way so we didnt have a shower--when baby gets here though, we are going to have a welcome/meet baby party--if people want to bring a gift then that is fine.

I agree...you should have it 2 months before your due date..its a safe time for your and you friends as well..and if you get gifts you dont really need or like you still have time to return them before your to big to move..hope this helps..good luck!!!
