David Beckham will not play for the USA national team for two reasons.

Firstly, he is English and would only be allowed to play for the USA if a member of his immediate family was from the USA, or if he was born there. As neither apply he will not play for the USA.

However, if he did qualify under this rule, he would still not be able to play, as he has already represented England at international level. FIFA rules state that a player is not allowed to play for more than one national team.

The team he plays for has no bearing on the national team he may play for (sorry)

David Beckham will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season to join the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer in a five-year deal.

The move was announced Thursday following the end of talks on extending the 31-year-old English midfielder's contract with the Spanish club.

"This week, Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract by a further two seasons," Beckham said in a statement.

"After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year."

He won't be playing for the Team USA, but as of June 2007 he will be a member of the LA Galaxy of the MLS. He will be paid to the tune of $250 million over 5 years between salary and endorsement deals. Not bad change for a guy who is supposedly on the downside of his career.

Yeah he's going to LA Galaxy for like millions and millions but only after the Spanish League ends which I think should be about 4-6 months. Apparently he's going to earn 80 pence per second which is probably about 1.20 US dollar. And all he has to do is strike a sweet cross once or twice.
