A friend at University said a psychology study was heading towards that conclusion; like Miller in the 'Repo Man' film.

I used to be a long distance lorry driver and would do the Coventry to Sydney run every other day.
Don't think it affected my intelligence though.

This one goes out to my good bud over at the Allderblob, who’s feeling kind of down and unappreciated. Amongst some memorable moments in the 1984 cult classic Repo Man, is this philosophical interregnum around an oil-drum fire, in which Miller extols the value of riding the bus - it gives him time to think. As he says,

“The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.”

–Miller (Tracey Walter)

In a wacky world whose oil-obsessed car culture has been so degrading and destructive (something hinted at presciently throughout Repo Man), thank God for the Millers among us, those kooks who see through the spectacle of our society and refuse to let the “real world” compromise the truth as they see it, even when it drags them through the muck and gets them down.

I sometimes have to drive 100 miles to get from one house to the other. By the time I get there I am "road dumb." So I reflect the psychology study! I loose brain cells every time some git tailgates me in a Chelsea Tractor.

Maybe that's because most people who are on the road alot tend to"zone out" from' highway hypnosis'. ' Course that's just a guess!

nah, don't believe it. the more you drive, the more you anticipate and analyse other idiots and use intelligence to avoid them. It's also a good place to plan lessons if you teach!!!
