I want to buy an acustic guitar from my friend, and I was wondering if the brand Samick is a quality brand for a person starting out on guitar. Any help? Thanks.

Samick is a corporation that devoured a bunch of smaller instrument manufacturers. The ''acoustic'' brand is certainly a well respected guitar make, however sometimes when these new corporations take over and start cutting costs, the original quality of a product is one of the first things to go. I don't know if that is true in this particular case.

Samick is the largest guitar manufacturer on the face of the planet and is an excellent choice as an acoustic guitar for a new player.

They make guitars for many other companies (some you would likely know), but their acoustics are pretty much run of the mill instruments... not that this is bad, just that their acoustics are "nothing special".

Samick makes 15 million guitars a year - maybe more. They aren't the best acoustic guitar in the world, but they are OK for a person starting out. You don't need a $1,000 acoustic guitar to learn how - $1,000 is at the bottom of what is considered "entry level professional grade" for a new guitar, but you don't need one that fancy if you are just learning. Just make sure that there are no problems with it before you buy it.
