Depending on your income u could be approved for pregnant medicaid..It covers everything from the doctor visits, delivery, labor, recovery, prescriptions and everything else for the first 9 months and then 6 months after for postpartum care..It costs u nothing and is completely free. It is very good for women who are pregnant and need to get to a doctor etc. U will just have to get to your local health department of children and families to apply and then u usually get approved within 30 days of the application, sometimes sooner. If u are not a wealthy person and are at a moderate income i suggest u have her apply. Good Luck!

it depends on where you are located and what hospitals and clinics accept. Before your wife gives birth, the health department give free prenatal visits to pregnant women and they can help locate you to a hospital that is cheap or help you get insurance. I know in Virginia, you can get Medicaid for your wife and child. Go to your local social services department and both of you have to sign up since you will be living together, but she only needs to mark that she wants coverage for herself. If she gets Medicaid, then all of her prenatal OB visits are covered as well as the birth. Once the baby is born the baby will also recieve Medicaid and all her Dr. visits, medications, hospital visits, pediatricians, etc. are free. You just have to see if your state provides Medicaid and what places accept it. I'm not sure if it is a nationwide insurance or just on the east coast.
you might also want to try contacting your social services or women's health department and ask them these questions. they can usually point you in the right direction to free health care for your wife and your baby. and also for you if you need insurance. They can tell you what most hospitals in your area accept, how much it is, how to get it, etc.
Also, when your wife comes to America, go to your local health department and have her sign up for WIC. That way while she is pregnant, she will get food vouchers for healthy foods she needs to eat like Milk, eggs, cheese, peanut butter, and juice. they come in handy!! and once the baby is born, if she breast feeds she will continue to get the checks and if she bottle feeds, they will give her vouchers for baby formula up until the child is 18 months.
hope this helps and good luck.

It depends on if you are giving birth in a hospital, a free standing birth center, or at home as to the cost and coverage of your insurance. I have to use the insurance at my husband's work, and it won't cover home births, so we pay out of pocket, but even then it's about the same as our deductible would be after all the months of care.
