Tell her. Then tell the lab tech to use the smallest needle on her like the butterfly needle which they use for babies or people that have very small veins like i do.

I will tell you from personal experiance, being a person that is TERRIFIED of needles. Like... MAJOR PHOBIA.
Anyways, you should tell her, but make sure she understands the concequences of not having a blood test. I have only taken 2 needles without having to be held down and that was for a TB test so I could teach in the classroom and in order to go on the pill.
Either way, if she has a phobia, she will not like you for a bit, but if you don't tell her, every time she goes to the doctor after this she will be terrified that she is going to end up having a shot.
If she doesn't like the feeling of needles you can actually buy this numbing cream at the local pharmacy. You rub it on the arm's are about an hour before hand, and it makes it so that you will not feel the injection in any way.
Good luck with everything!

I would tell her but not too far in advance so that she doesn't have a long time to worry about it. I would not just have her surprised because she might not trust you in the future. She may then become very anxious about visiting the doctor which you don't want to happen. Also, find out ahead of time about getting a topical anesthetic. You put in on 2 or 3 sites that may be used for the blood draw about 60-90 mins before the test. She won't feel a thing. I have always insisted on it for my daughter who used to be terrified of needles. She now has no fear of the doctor since using it.

i visit relate. I actual have an 11 12 months previous who's the same way. i ought to tell your daughter an afternoon or 2 earlier, until eventually the health practitioner can protect that section for you. at the same time as my son has to have blood artwork finished, I make confident he's known with the health practitioner has ordered it and why the health practitioner has ordered it. He is known with it is going to damage slightly and that i do not attempt to cajole him in the different case. I in simple terms tell him that if he relaxes and takes deep breathes it received't damage as a lot. I also tell him that he would not ought to seem if he would not want to, yet he continuously does besides. once you examine in to have your daughter's blood artwork finished, enable the lab recognize that she is afraid. they frequently have a pair human beings on team who're extra ideal waiting to administration the kind of aspect. the body of ideas of the lab tech(s) can make a tremendous distinction in how she copes.

There is only one thing to do, and that is to be honest with her. Explain to her why the test is needed, and because you love her and want her to be safe and healthy, it must be done. Discuss Why she fears them, and let the doctor know also, so he is aware of it. Some Doctors can be aggressive.
Maybe she can listen to her music and concentrate on that before the needle is given. Good Luck

Tell her the 1 or 2 nights before so she can be prepared. Not any sooner because she will have to worry for a longer period of time.
-Good luck

Just tell her and help her through her fear. This is a situation she'll have to deal with for the rest of her life. You're not doing her any favours.

Are you crazy??? Why would you tell her??? and then have to put up with the anxiety that you have put on her and then on yourself??? You never, NEVER ever tell a child they have to have that kind of stuff done. My son used to ask me things like that, I would tell him, we have to wait and see what happens. No use in going through anxiety and stress twice. Yes, its not good to lie to a child. I never lied to my child, I just wasnt always willing to give all the information that I had. I am sure she will understand.
