ok i dont know what NIFL is, but if you are talking about NFL (national football league) basically you can score 5 ways.

Touchdown= 6 points
Field Goal= 3 points
Safety= 2 points
Extra Point= 1 point
Two-pt conversion= 2 points

A touchdown is where a player successfully gets in the other teams endzone. At that point you have the option of kicking an extra point giving you 7 points or going for the two-point conversion which is basically a one play down to score a touchdown from the 2 yard line.

A field goal is during your drive you decide to kick the ball through the end zone goal (the little yellow field posts in the back of the endzone)

A safety is when a defensive player sacks (tackles you) in the end zone.

Each team has 11 players on the field during play.

And you get four downs to get a first down, which is 10 yards from when you start your four down try.

Hope this helps.
