I would prefer to hear it from experience, not from assumptions. I would like to hear both from Egyptians and foreigners who have visited Egypt. Thanks.

When I asked this question, I meant to let it go to voting, as I thought there should be no chosen best answer for this kind of questions and if there still has to be, then I should let more people decide. But I believe this answer I am going to choose really deserves to be chosen as the best one. Btw, I felt the similar way when I left my hometown and went to the capital in order to attend university. Though there was a difference, I have been able to visit my hometown pretty often. Anyway, as time went by, the capital became my second home. And now, when I am thinking of going to a foreign country and spend some time there, I am looking forward to find a new home, without loosing these I already got. Finally, as far as I am concerned, our ultimate home is Mother Earth.

This question is so touching to me.
I am leaving in a few hours to another country. My departure is , hopefully, for as long as possible. Although I am leaving here, there is nothing in my heart but absloute love for Egypt and the Egyptian people.
I have seen my worst days here. I have been kicked out of dozens of jobs. I am practically broke, yet there is something that makes me know that everything I do in my life, I do for my country. I wanna be rich and powerful just to be useful to my country.
Egypt is not as beautiful as any other country in the world. There are many more beautiful places. I don't care at all about the pyramids or the monuments or things like that. For me, it is just small things that matter. The "simple" people: so "white-hearted" welcoming and forgiving. I live among people who want nothing from this world but the dinner meal, and the rest is for Allah to bring to us. I will miss staying up late at night at the beach of the Suez Canal with my friends. I will miss the over-whelming emotions of adolescence when just "talking" with the girl of your dreams could be an achievement. I will miss the fact that we are still like a "baby" nation still finding its way in the world of democray. The morning newspapers. The train that passes everyday infront of my house taking college students to their colleges. People riding their bikes everyday in the morning going to their works in the freezing weather.
I don't know. I just love my country. My country is not a pretty one, yet I love it. It's undefined love ...But I still don't wanna come back in the near future. Gosh...There is a song like that by someone called "Huessin El jasmy". It defines how I feel. I wish I could translate how it goes for you. I only know these few lines
"You're my love, my mother, my blood and always in my mind.
Even when you do things that are so mean to to me, I still love you to death"

Well first and foremost I love the people. I have never met so many kind, welcoming people in my life (not that there aren't bad ones too... I've met some of those Egyptians too). They treat you like a long lost relative after having known you for just 5 minutes. I've never felt safer or less threatened anywhere else. Secondly would have to be all of the ancient sites. I've had an obsession with ancient Egypt since I was 5 years old and actually going there and seeing the temples, museums, etc... it has only fueled my passion. After that I'd say the food. Fresh kofta, taamiya, moulokhia, basbousa, bileila, mahalabiya, the list could go on and on!

The men, the food, the walk on the corniche at night, the markets, noise, craziness... the friendly christian people, the strange things that you see when u r from a western country..... love street food, street life, villages... love everything about the country... except the corruption and people who are violent, evil and unfriendly! oh yes, and of course the quirky things u notice each day... a brawl and violent fight amongst the locals under the sign "smile you are in egypt" ! The hairdressers plucking your nose and ear hairs with cotton, the donkeys driven by 5yr old kids side by side with semi trailers, the contradtctions, the brainwashing, the hospitality and simpleness of the children and their families, being able to play in the road with kids all day long and having fun, meeting their families and sitting down with them to a proper village meal.... learning how to make traditional food, going out to the markets selecting your chook and having it killed and plucked..then making shorba, roasted chicken, warra einab mashi, molokheya etc etc I was able to learn off a local muslim women, whose husband trusted me to stay hom with his wife and kids.. unveiled... to learn the arts of local cookery.. I love the whole place the insane laws, the hassle, the men cracking onto you from 9yrs old to 90..! I love the laid back attitude... list can go on... as the other respondent said...it is surely a love hate relationship with the country.. but once u drink the nile, u will always go back... as the saying goes. I have drunk the nile literally and wouldnt go back for that hahahahaha!

LOOOOOOOOTS of things, but mainly its the Warmth u feel in this country. But I'll have to say that its the love hate relationship. I really love this country, but i really hate whats going on nowadays. I just wish that things r better, and wake up someday and find that Egypt is the Best Country Ever.
