It is normal for periods to reappear after you have had a baby and breastfeeding has no bearing on when. When they start again varies from person to person and you can also become pregnant when breastfeeding despite the fact that some people believe that it will prevent pregnancy, so if you do not want to have another baby so soon take precautions. Basically after childbirth your system progressively gets back to normal, but you can still breastfeed for quite a long time, even until your baby is weaned onto solid foods if you want to. Breastfeeding your baby gives him or her the best start in life, so well done!

I have breast fed all my 4 children and only menstruated while breast feeding 1. my best friend on the other hand has menstruated while breastfeeding all of hers and she has been told that some women do and others dont, it doesnt mean that there is anything wrong, but do check with your health visitor or midwife.

It varies from woman to woman, some menstruate some don't. Just remember you can get pregnant again while breast feeding even if you are not having your periods. This happened to a friend of mine and my mom is a nurse and made sure I understood this while I was breast feeding my daughters.

Some women do menstruate while breastfeeding..I was told that the longer I breastfed the more likely it would be for me to menstruate...getting back into your cycle just starts to happen. This is what my doctor told me at my post birth visit...I had a Friend who breastfed for a year and she started her normal cycle after 4 months..I am not sure that is common or not, but it does happen.

I was a exclusive breastfeeding mother and I got my period right off the bat. It was a regular period. Each woman is different and start when their body says so. My sister-in-laws mother breastfeed and had no period, and found out she was pregnant. Don't believe everything you hear, you can still ovulate with no period. You will find that most women have some sort of period, regular or not while breastfeeding.

It varies from person to person - I breastfed for 10 months and didn,t have a period until the month after I stopped. My sister who had her baby 3 weeks after me and breastfed for much the same time, had one after 2-3 months.
I think its ok either way. Just don't rely on breastfeeding for contraception.

Fraid so, and it varies from person to person and baby to baby.
My wife breastfed both our daughters. Her periods returned straight away with the eldest and after 6 months with our youngest daughter.
This is why breastfeeding is not reliable as a contraceptive, contrary to popular belief!

The health care professional is ideal. i grow to be given ibuprofen in the health facility six hundred mg when I had my daughter and grow to be breastfeeding. Or direction taking no longer some thing is the most secure yet tylenol, ibuprofren are the most secure issues to take for discomfort. only tell her no longer to take it earlier 6 hours between doses to be most secure and most secure to to take the dose excellent after she fed the toddler so then by using the subsequent feeding some the meds wore off.

yes and you can still get pregnant while breastfeeding... it may take longer for periods to return after the birth when breast feeding but they do at some point...

No, generally your periods don't re-start until you have finished breast-feeding, though if you aren't feeding full-time they might come back sooner (i.e. if you are feeding morning adn night but not through day). However, there shouldn't be anything wrong if you have started bleeding, but if you are concerned, chat to your health visitor / GP.
This is why it can be used as a form of contraception, though I wouldn't recommend relying on that alone!
