lately, whenever i bring my own food to school or somewhere where i am around friends/ acquaintances i like to offer them some of it. not like, from my plate of spagghetti or whatever, but if i have an orange, i like to offer people a piece, escpecially if i have some unusual food; i like to let people have some. escpecially to the friends who didn't bring a lunch or w/e.
i was just wondering if that meant something psychologically, because i never liked to share my food this much before..... lol

its a social custom of generosity and sharing what is around

mexicans do this all the time ,so do Africans
it is dificult to accept as a European to share all food you get ,but if you want to be social you have to learn it ,otherwise the people who grew up with this custom will think that you are greedy and selfish.
and strangely enough it is mostly done amongst the poor.

personally i think it is a very atractive way of showing generosity and companionship

it shows that you're social, caring and loving. generally, when people have friends and family over for dinner it's a sign of companionship. you just really enjoy them and want them to experience some of the things you enjoy.
