Check out craig's list. They have a section entitled "free" where people are just giving away unwanted items. Sometimes, you can find a treasure or two!

Look under Yahoo groups for FREECYCLE. there are lots of local chapters. I have given away tons of stuff on there. If you are looking for something you can do that too.
