What's bugging your rats:

I use Ivermectin. I've been using it for 10 years now without incident, and so far I've had over 150 rats, both males and females. Doseage is once per week for three or four weeks as per instructed by my rat-keeping mentors.

Ivermectin is a horse wormer that kills both internal and external parasites in/on rats, and many of us in the pet-rat community use it with success. You need to treat all of the rats in the cage as if they all had mites. Don't mean to gross you out, but animals have mites/lice living on them throughout their lives, including humans. Mites never become a bother if the animal is healthy. If your rat has mites it means that it's immune system has been compremised, possibly from stress, or the beginning of an illness.
Personally I feel very uncomfortable about using Revolution or Advantage on my rats. I have just heard too many stories of rats having adverse reactions to it much in the same way as the poison affects cats.
Holistically, I would use Dr. Goodpet products to help stop the itch cycle and rid mother rats and their babies, and the very old, sick rat, of mites.

You also need to thoroughly clean your rats' environment several times during the rats' mite treatment. Hot water and diluted bleach to clean the cage, hot-water washings if you use bed sheets and pillow cases for their bedding, like I do, Wooden cage accessories need to be tossed out, etc., etc., etc.
It has been found that mites even come in on packaged rodent bedding and we solve this problem by putting the bedding in the freezer for a couple of days.

My rats had mites before. The best thing to do is to go to the vet. He'll probably give you a solution to bathe them in, or he might give them a shot. Either way, you're better off with a professional.

The usual treatment is Ivermectin. 3-4 treatments, 7-10 days apart. If you're not experience dosing and administering it yourself, have an exotics vet do it for you.
