I think 1.e4 because it is the most aggressive.
As mentioned if your opponent plays 1...e5 you can play a King's Gambit, or perhaps even go for a Max Lange (My fave)
because it leads to a wide open lively game where tactics abound.
Play against the Sicilian 1...c5 is always fun since white can dictate the course of play with forced variations (think mainline Najdorf or the Yugolsav attack in the Dragon).
Nowadays there are some real interesting lines against the French Winawer for white to play as well as some new dynamic ideas when facing the stodgy Cao-Kan

Ruy Lopez opening for me, E4. It's a good opening because you give a good opening for the queen and the bishop and sometimes I like to vary it so that if the black's move was E5, I would move Qh5. If the black blunders and moves the Ng6 to attack your queen, then you could just eat E5. Anyway, I use this opening if my opponent is not a seasoned chess player. Otherwise, I stick with the regular Ruy Lopez to be on the safe side.

Verisov Attack...
Q pawn, knight, knight, bishop F4.
I don't play at any high level at all, but only with a couple of tricks (knight forks, queenside castle, discovered checks, pins) which allows me to beat most anyone my level or under consistently.
For example, I had to look up the name of the opening.
But basically it is to set up a fork with N @ C7...
Then trade queens ASAP. Then trade down until I have a rook vs. opponent knight (often better due to an opponent mistake, but I am perfectly happy to trade down to this point). Either pin the knight or promote a pawn. Of course if my opponent stops me at C7, both my knights are developed so I can look for a fork or just start by trading queens (the rationale being that at my level, I play without my queen better then most of my opponents will play without theirs), then look for a fork after to get an advantage.
Sorry if you're a more advanced player than this, because this won't help you at all.

I feel full of happynesse when my oponent plays 1. ..., e5 to meet my 1.e4, cause I can play 2.f4 by starting the King´s Gambit, a very enjoyable game to me, regardless the outcome (win, loss or draw, but the majority of the games are NO DRAWN in such opening!). It is sharp, easy to play and a true open game, I love it as Spassky and Bronstein.

When playing as white I always play the Queens pawn opening, sometimes the Colle, sometimes the Torre attack, or even the queens gambit. For Black I play the Caro Kahn when the opponent opens up with e4.

I always play my knight first because.....instinct! And I win! I'm in the school's chess club and only 2 people beat me. But if you play black, I'd play one of my pawns first.

I try to castle my king first chance I get. Then put all my other pieces around it. Four player chess is different, you have to go all out on it.
