i heard that there is going to be a HUGE earthquake soon in l.a. and san diego.... is it true? i went on yahoo news and they said it was going to be as big as katrina! does anyone have any info on it and when its going to be, and WHAT TO DO WHEN IT COMES?!?!?

The quake you are referring to will be on a much larger scale of effect than Hurricane Katrina.
But the fact is that they have ALWAYS been predicting this major earthquake for the cities along the San Andreas Fault.... all the major coastal cities in Calif. It's true though, it will happen but modern science cannot predict when. It could happen ANY time- today, next week or maybe in 20 years time. Scientists do know that the pressure upon the fault line is constantly building and the number of small tremors and quakes they do have is not sufficient at all to relieve that pressure. At some point there must inevitably be a MAJOR shift. When it comes your best bet is to be outdoors in an open space where nothing can fall on you. If you are indoors and too far from an exit then get under the nearest strongest thing you can find, something that won't collapse if the roof comes in.
Don't worry yourself too much about it though. Most folks survive and all the damaged or destroyed things can be rebuilt.

There are earthquakes around the world every day. Japan had a big one recently, followed by a tsunami warning. Can't be helped. Just live your life. More people die from smoking, domestic violence and car crashes. Don't fixate on what may happen, ultimately nothing is under anyone's control

I lived in LA 20 years a go and at that time people were saying the same thing. It never came. I think on a grand scale of things a 100 years is soon. But what do I know. The big one could come tomorow or it could come in another 100 years. Its anybodys guess when it will come.

You're a bit late, friend. We had a tsunami a la ptarigon from Japan a few years back and CA is what hits YOU when there's an earthquake...even in Florida.

Yes a earthquake is coming to CA is long over due. When nobody knows.
I would make you a survial kit to last for 48 hours. Learn some basic surival skills. Getting yourself ready and knowing what to do will provide you with the security you seek.

YES, Sara there will be a HUGE quake that shatters the entire west coast of america and Canada.
However, NO ONE knows when. Friends, relatives, theologians and scientific experts can ONLY GUESS that it will be in our life time (estimates range from this year to 40 years from now).
What to do?
LOVE your family and friends with all your might
Develop a close and Loving relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ ... and communicate daily thru prayer.
Bottom line: YOU could live safely to be 100 or you could lose your life any second. Only God knows how long each of us has, that's why I suggest you LOVE your family & friends with all your might (right now) ... and let them know it!
