This is a very sensitive issue. When some people are grieving they want to be left alone and some people do not want to be left alone, when my mother died from cancer i wanted to be alone and my sister wanted everybody around her.I think giving her some space is what you feel is right after all you are the 1 in the situation and not anybody else.Don't leave it too long though and when you do contact her which i hope will be at least sometime this week let her know that you were giving her some time.
Even if it means just sitting beside her and not saying anything i am quite sure your presence will be more than appreciated.
Good luck babes

You can't be falling for her that much, if you were, this wouldn't be a question on here, you'd have gone to her and just been there for her, why does not actually having met matter? Phone her, and ask her if she would like you to come around for company.
However I feel that you have already blown it, by ducking out at her time of need, "I'll leave you alone until it's all over with" not something a caring and sensitive person would do.

It will take time, but she will heal from this tragedy. There isn't much you can do other than be a good friend. Don't change anything you two have been doing. Talk like normal, just don't bring up the subject of her dad. If she wants to talk about it, she'll start the conversation.
Otherwise, just be there for her anytime she needs you.

You did the right thing, let her know if she needs to talk to someone that you are there to listen and leave it at that she'll probably want to talk about it eventually.

Let her know that you are there for her, and that will not change. Be prepared for her to be angry and want to yell and scream.
You could be falling for the person you want her to be as opposed to the person she is, you might also want to rescue her, take your time and take each day as it comes.
