Why is marriage better for men?

Why is it that, on average, married men live longer than single men and single women live longer than married women?

Well, I have heard it the other way around.....that married women live longer than their spouse, and has been my experience that it is true. You see many more female widows than male widows. I think all you have to do to see that this is true is to go and visit your local nursing home...there are far more women being cared for than there are men, so I dont know where this academic information came from. It is well documented that men usually die at a younger age than women do, single or married. It has also been documented that men play the role of the tough guy, the protector, and unlike women they dont talk about their feelings but keep it inside. I think that is why men are more likely to die younger because they keep everything inside and wont show their feelings like a woman does. A lot of men, as appossed to women will suicide when their stresses become too much, whereas a woman seems to be able to work through problems a lot better. Statistics are only as good as the cross section of the population where the study was done, and I wouldnt take too much notice of what you have read. It has been my experience that it is the total opposite.

It does NOT say that single women live longer than married women or that married men live longer than married women. What it does say is that married men live longer than single men, but that being married makes no difference to the longevity of women. This does NOT suggest that being married is bad for women, but does suggest that it is good for men.

Married women always worry about what their husbands are doing and what they havent done-all that worrying kills ya

Single men envy their married friends and die thinking they could have had it easier

Single woman only have one headache-thier checkbook and do the work for one person vs a family or they do it for a child who is unable to make demands

It is because marriage in its accepted state is an arrangement that is designed to benefit men. The role models we accept are those that depict the woman as servant and the man as master.

We therefore have a picture of the man being pampered and having power...while the woman is abused and dis empowered.

Over a period of time, this social dysfunctionality will become realised in statistical information such as this....women having less reason to live if they are the slave of a relatively pointless man.
