Personally I usually like the way an afro looks, but if it is too large then it just looks weird and begs for attention. As they all said, it is your hair, wear it however you want and don't change unless you WANT it changed. I am a male 23 yrs old and I haven't done more then trim my hair in over 10 years. I hear "Excuse me, miss" at least once a week. But that doesn't make me cut it or get angry. They are just too ignorant to look before they speak. Just like with any haircut, overdoing it is overdoing it, but if that's what YOU WANT, then that is all up to you, And really who cares if I don't like your afro. If I was going to say "I don't like afros" without individually seeing it, then I'm probably really saying I don't like black people's hair. In that case do you really care what I think.

Black women wearing their hair natural is something that is long over due. It has been such a rare practice over the years that many black women don't even know how to take care of their hair in it's natural state. It's said that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but attempting to change something natural to ones ethnic heritage from it's original state to something else is also a form of self hatred learned from being a part of a society that is dominated by favoritism to one specific racial group. I am so sick of seeing weaves and wigs on black women that I could scream. It looks ridiculous, especially when some of the styles are so blatantly fake and euro centric. Who do they think they are fooling? Natural hair on a black woman can be more beautiful than something fake, so kudos to you for being true to yourself!

Its your head and you should wear what you darn well please - if somebody else doesn't like it that's too bad - it isn't their head of hair. Wear your hair the way you want to - especially if it looks good!
