Should we be allowed to EXEMPT registered sex offenders from moving into our neighborhoods? What do you think???

I understand that some do try and get rehabilitated and all need some place to live, so we should just build them their own communities...

I have access to trials and stuff in my county. Recently there was a three year old boy that was raped and molested...the sex offender (a repeat) lived very close...within 100 feet. If they were unable to live and work so close to our children, the murders/molestation's and rapes would be down...

What to do with sex offenders is a touchy subject because it is the only crime in which a person who finishes out his sentence continues to be persecuted by it, with such things as registries. A murder who finishes out his sentence does not have to register and his community does not have to be notified, he can live near schools etc. When he completes his sentence he is done. A sex offender can not say the same, HOWEVER we have an obligation to protect those that can not protect themselves and if you know that a person who preys on children is in your neighborhood you must protect the children and the vulnerable. There is just not a black and white in this situation.

Our children should come first. They are innocent and have commited no crimes, so why should they have to suffer because a pervert lives nearby? Prison isn't about rehabilitation. It's about punishment. And, the offender learns from others different ways to commit crimes. For all the bleeding heart judges who let these perverts off with light sentences, I would move the sex offender into the judge's neighborhood! Also, I've met women that were horribly brutalized and raped, and they will never be the same. One is afraid to open her front door, and she has had years of counseling. She is now on total disability. In a way, she is in a prison just like the man that victimized her. I say we take all the sex offenders and send them to their own country. No parole officers, no chance to do another crime, no foreign aid, no clothes, no food, nothing.

I agree with you 100%. We protect the offenders, but how are we protecting the innocent children? All sex offenders should be moved to the desert far away from children and decent citizens. Our citizens and children deserve this. All sex offenders deserve the companionship of each other. Our children deserve the right to make good choices. Sex offenders had the same opportunity and made bad choices for which there are consequences. Let us build a community, a township. The gateway of this city will read, "Sex Offender Village" enter at your own risk.

I think we should. In the area I live in there are 38 sex offenders. Four of them live with in two to four blocks from the school . One lives a block and a half from me. My grandkids can not play outside without and adult with them. They should have there own community with a guard at the gate so they can monitor there goings and comings. They should not be allowed to live in neighborhoods with children. It does not matter if they have therapy. I they should be casterated so they can not do this again.

This is a really tough question. Maybe it would depend on the severity of the what the sex offender did. But in my opinion I dont want a known sex offender living by me, although they need a place to live too!

I am from New Jersey and we are going through that right now.

I personally feel that it is wrong to limit someones freedom if they paid their debt to society. THAT IS WHAT PRISON WAS FOR. If the judge/psychologist deems the person fit then he/she should be able to move anywhere they want and, now that they are being registered, they can be asked to get a reevaluation just to check.

I think the decision to have no Pedo zones is only a political move and will be struck down in court but hey, at least the prosecutor will have something to spend our tax money on.

Sex offences are a mental illiness and prison does not cure mental illness. While it would be impossible to imprison all mental patients, a very close eye should be kept on them. I would not object to monitoring their activities with ankle bracelets.

Parents should be made very aware of who is living in their neighbourhood, they shoudl also be aware of who they invite into their houses. The nicest people are con men sitting in prison now.

Its a good thing I'm not in charge of punishment for sex offenders. My solution is much cheeper, much faster, and arrives at several hundred feet per second.

I honestly feel we should be allowed to exempt them because 98% become re-offenders
