Quite active. They are actually currently monitoring the growing bulge of the caldera via satellite.
I was there last summer and I have to admit, I was vaguely worried it was going to blow. It probably won't erupt anytime soon, but there is magma moving underground for sure.

Activie, dormant and extinct volcanos are classified depending mainly on the interval between eruptions. Explosive super-volcanoes such as Yellowstonehave repose intervals of hundreds of thousand or even millions of years while non-explosive eruptions have very short repose intervals.

Yellowstone hasn't erupted for 70,000 years but this could be perfectly normal for a volcano that size and whether it is dormant or active comes down to individual scientist interpretation as there is no documented evidence within human existence other than the geological record. Many scientists consider Yellowstone to be active because of high uplift rates, frequent earthquakes, and a very active geothermal system.
