Know you will definitely not feel any pain unless your doctor forgets to use lubricants. :-) the water that is used is usually lukewarm so when you experience the water going inside your body it is actually very therapeutic and very comforting. Most important is that you keep calm and relax and trust your doctor. For most people even with a cup full of water will cause you to want to expel the stools immediately. Unless you're using coffee enema this is not a problem at all.
Probably the safest and most natural way of treating constipation. Once you're comfortable you can even do it at home. I used to use enema but it can get quite troublesome if you plan to clean your colon on a regular basis. I now use Oxyflush from http://www.healthglows.com/Oxyflush.html it uses oxygenated magnesium to soften the stools without any side effects and will not be habit-forming. Regardless, I wish you all the best in your enema session and say goodbye to constipation!

Honey, you can do an enema at home and it will be fine. I think you would rather do it than hava a doctor do it! I had to give myself one before my surgery a few months ago and although I was not happy about it...I did it. It was a little uncomfortable but not painful at all. Go to your drugstore and get one now, I went "poop" within 2 minutes and I was fine. I think you should do it yourself unless for some reason your Dr. has to do it. Either way you'll be fine and it doesn't hurt at all... Good luck.

Getting an enema does not hurt. This procedure may feel uncomfortable because you may feel like you are going to use the bathroom while it is being done. Just relax and breath. Think to yourself that you will be able to go to the bathroom in just a few minutes.

Enemas arnt a walk in the park, but they arnt horrible people get clogged up and sometimes just need a little help to move things along best thing is dont tense up and yes a bit of cramping will follow i had one after i had my son and it wasnt painfull but i would rather have taken a normal poo to so i guess best thing is drink LOTS of water relax and get a heating pad if your tummy cramps.

First I'd try suppositories. If that doesn't work then a enema. Do it at home it's easier. No it doesn't hurt, but you will feel pressure. If this is a constant problem add something like Metamuscil to your diet.

You poor thing, I empathize. I've had a few in my life. You will feel a little pressure as they fill your bowel with water, just try to relax because the more you tense up, the more discomfort you'll feel. I would take along a hot water bottle or other type heating pad to place on your tummy, that should help. Also, if you are extrememely nervous, ask for a sedative. All in all, it will not be nearly as bad as what you'll work up in your mind. You'll do fine, it doesn't hurt.
