It's an educational trip so the cost is all standard. it covers hotels, plane ticket etc.

I'm sorry if I my answer might not be good but I'll try my best!
You can perhaps take up one of your hobbies part-time and advertise and sell some stuff. Example: jewelry
OR you could try to have a garage sale and see how much you raise with that

These suggestions will only give you a little extra money!
These answers are really stupid but it's just a start

Hmm. There's no easy answer is there? You earn it, borrow it or steal it. The trick is how you do the earning, borrowing or stealing. Also, it'll make a difference where in Europopland you are going and if you will be travelling or just staying in one place.

The first thing I'm asking is, why $5k? Consider why you need the cash since it's only a means to an end (pursuit of happiness, remember, not a bag of euros) and your ends might not cost $5k. Fact 1 - you can always go cheaper. Fact 2 - you can always stay for a shorter period.

If you are roughly budgeting €100 a day, that is 50 days. Even when you consider that most of it will go on beer when you hit Germany, or pizza when you hit Italy, there's still plenty left to go around. In fact, go for €50 a day and boom, 100 days of europopland.

Yep, I can already hear people saying that's not enough. Well, I bet y'all have a job, a salary and all of those committments that make you forget that fun is pretty much free - especially when you are travelling.

So, presuming that you don't want to volunteer your services and assuming that you can hunt down some likeminded euro peeps on myspace, faceparty, sofa surfer et cetera, $5k is plenty enough, in fact, if summer is only a month, halve it and still be rich.

As for getting the cash together, you have 5 months of earning. If you have cool family and the prospect of a job when you get back, you could earn some and borrow some. When I first went travelling, I had to cut back on socialising to save enough cash to get started. I wasn't too good at cutting back, so I went with about $750 for a month.

It meant hooking up with other travellers along the way to share costs (and laughs). It meant staying on a cheap Greek island (Skiros) for a bit longer than I planned (it was cheaper than heading back to Italy) but hey, a Greek island for a month? It's hardly hell ;)

Right that's my input. Hope it helps.

i'd do no longer some thing with out their earlier understanding and consent. money is an rather mushy concern, as is the death of a baby. they'd sense exploited in case you manage a fund raiser and publicly clarify why you're elevating money for them. With their permission, you are able to start an account at an section monetary employer on the daughter's behalf, then get an section television station to inform her tale and enable persons recognize that they can make a contribution to the account. Do some thing in the community i'm in the mountains, so i'd do a snow shoveling rigidity for donations in the daughter's call. in case you're a hotter climate, bake sales, backyard care, such issues as that....

Depending on your income and credit grade, I might be able to help you. There is a new loan concept, people to people lending. I am a group leader for prospective borrowers. You can learn more here:

You could do fund raisers. Like sell sandwiches, then make and deliver them.
