I've read they like to occasionally hack white people to death with machetes, but other than that, it should be a fun trip! Hope you'll excuse me if I don't join you.

Cape Town is a great place. There are really amazing places to see. But like most of the people here have said: All cities in the world have bad spots and preferably travel with a friend and stay off the streets at night, unless you are at the Waterfront or any other busy places where there are lots of people. Stay out the center of town at night.
For beautiful sunsets, you must be on the southern side of Table Mountain (Camps Bay), if not on it. For the special experiences it will be best if someone takes you around. The usual spots might just be too boring for somebody your age. ;)
Hope you enjoy it.

I live in Cape Town and I teel you its the best place you will ever visit. Many tourists walk aroung with camera's around their necks, heavy gold chains and laptops and then walk into deserted allys at night and wonder why they get robbed. For crying out loud use your common sense and you will be safe!
There is lots of wind in Cape Town but Feb and march are the best times to come as there is the best weather, temp is between 10 and 35 degree celcius. Visit a tourism place when you get here and they will show you the best places to visit. Don't forget to go the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, Camps Bay, Clifton, Chapmans Peak, Churchhaven lagoon, Robben island and Forries in newlands is the best place for drinks in the world, it has the record for the most beers sold in the southern hemisphere.
We look forward to having you here

South Africa is beautiful and you'll love it! Crime is high, but I've never been robbed before. Cape Town is like any other city in South Africa. Stay out of the middle of the city. Try not to walk alone, don't use any minibus taxi's and keep your important belongings with you. If you do that, you'll be OK.

Cape Town is like any other city... has some high crime areas but mostly okay. Your agency I am sure will give you an escort anyway.
Highs are in the mid 70s now; lows in the low 60s. I was just there a couple of days ago.

Oh my goodness! Hows these people? How rude!?! They haven't even been here and they think they're experts!
Cape Town is one of the MOST beautiful cities in the world!!
It is breathtaking. From watching the sunset from the top of Table Mountain to viewing the whales and dolphins in the crystal seas, or playing with baby Cheetahs at Spiers to driving the famous wine routes and taking glimpses into stunning paradise materpieces! Or how about standing at the tip of Africa and experiencing the wonder of seeing two oceans meet! Apart from the fantastic shopping and entertainment Cape Town is full of friendly people with lots to share. Crime is the same as any other part of the world. Would you go walking around the bronx late at night? No? Well don't do that in Cape Town either.
Cape Town is an international city and its geared for tourists, but if you want to let something like stupid rumours stop you from an unforgettable trip of a lifetime, thats your choice. I highly recommend it, I go there quite often and I love it, and every person I've spoken to about it loves it too!
Come visit our stunning country. We love it here and we'd love to share it with you :)

It is like most any big city in the United States. So it is as safe as New York or Chicago. You will have the same pitfalls as you do in those cities. People will take advantage of you if they know you are a tourist. Otherwise if you have ever been to NY or CHI town you know no to go into dark allies alone... You know what I mean.

I went to Capetown about 2 years ago, and I found it to be safe. I felt ok walking around by myself, and infact I'm going back there in a couple of days too, so I guess you could say I don't have a problem with it. However, like most big cities you have to be careful. Just use your brain and you should have a good time in one of the worlds most beautiful cities. ( A guide told me its the third most beautiful after Sydney and Vancouver)

Come to Cape Town, South Africa as soon as possible.
You have aged two years, from 16 years old http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvMMOdziFBqKnS9fdeclI03sy6IX?qid=20060626224701AACZ7hp to 18 years old http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsiPPZoHQaA0TbHzAoOcAHjsy6IX?qid=20070113144853AAWHwPN in the space of 7 months according to your profile, so my best bet is "come to the fountain of youth" as soon as you can!!!!
The weather is fine and the country is beautiful. The crime is high, but everyone needs to look out for themselves, don't they?

Don't let these other people scare you, it is like any other big city.
Few tips is don't flash your money or jewellry around, keep off the streets late at night if you are on you own. Most of all enjoy yourself and the people of this beautiful country. If you want to know more just ask.
