Hi, our band is playing in our school assembly on friday, we consist of two guitarists, a bassist, a singer and a drummer using basic amplifiers, nothing special. The sound acoustics in the room are pretty bad, it echoes too much and we are not on a stage so the sound we produce will be absorbed quickly within the first few rows of people. Does anybody know how to get the best sound so the audience will hear us better and enjoy it more, the hall isn't extremely big. Please try and answer before the the 19th of January 2007. Thanks very much, hope to hear from you soon.

If at all possible tyr to find some risers....or steps or build some boxes to set up on. See if the school will let you use the risers...only the drummer would have to bo on the floor. Then put your speakers up so they face the ceiling and the walls at the same time (angle them) . Try to play like this at least once and see if it helps. This would at least get your sound to bounce off the walls instead of the front row!

BEst of luck!

Drape blankets on the walls.

The drums are probably going to be too loud. Put tape and vibration rings on the heads. Use light sticks and play not as loud.
