Actually, you can get a whole new bathroom faucet fixture for as little as about ten dollars. You'd end up spending about that on parts to fix it yourself, and five times that if you call a plumber! The choice is yours. Fancy, high-end faucets run up to a couple hundred dollars. But if you're willing to go with a cheap one, vacuum-plated plastic housing and all, it's probably easier all around to replace the thing than to fix the valve. Just turn off the water supply, crawl underneath and unscrew the supply lines, then the two big (usually plastic) nuts that hold the fixture down. Pull it up, clean old gunk off from around the holes in the counter, drop the new one in, and go back under to reverse the process. Get some silicone tape or a tube of pipe sealant for all the pipe threads, to ensure leak-free fits. You'll be surprised how easy it actually is once you've done it yourself! That's the joy of being a Do-It-Yourselfer and Home Handyman!

Hi there. Is it a full moon out or everyone just in an ill mood but me.
It is a simple job. If you have a valve in the supply line under the sink, turn it off. If not there may be a valve at the hot water heater. If there isn't one there you need to turn the water off to the complete house at the main valve where ever that may be. Just follow the pipes until you can find the closest valve and turn it off.
Cut the water on at the sink to make sure you have no water before doing anything or you are in for a mess.
After it is off, take a small screwdriver or knike and pry the cap off the handle of the spicket.
There is a small screw in there you need to remove to get the handle off. Some of these srews will not come out. You may have to drill it out to get it fixed.
You will have to use a large screwdriver to pry the handle up and off the stem. After you get the handle off, the is a large nut that holds the valve body in the fixture. Use the correct size wrench or a cresent wrench to loosen and remove it. It will turn counter clockwise to come out. Take the whole stem to Lowes or where ever you trade and match it. Make sure you buy the one with the red label for hot, blue for cold.
Put it back in, turn the water on and give me the best answer award, and everyone is happy, lol.

Also you can replace the washers and o rings.Note what kind of faucet it is(name brand) Peerless, Delta,? They will ask.

you easily spoke back your question from the DIY save not having the final exchange. you have a option to the two get the final section exchange or getting a sparkling faucet exchange. it would be greater low value to change the faucet than getting a plumber to do it for you. it form of feels which you may properly be obtainable and changing the faucet isn't that frustrating. Having the final kit is a key element in doing this... non everlasting fix is to basically use the nice and comfortable water close off under the sink till you will get the final section or exchange. i might fee out the kit mandatory and then the faucet value... evaluate this value to the plumber and then the cost of the two the section and/or faucet from them... you would be shocked what it would be... yet another selection is getting a close-by handyman to try this...

If the tap is leaking slightly then it will be the washer-
http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/taps/replacing_tap_washer.htm
If it will not close then the head gear is damaged and will need replacing, you can get a set of tap adaptors. I can only find them on ebay-

Just follow the instructions on the site above and replace with the new tap head gear!

sounds like your washer gone, buy one, turn off your water main, take your tap apart and change the washer. turn back on your water mains and you should be sorted!
