they invented calculators so we can be lazy and not have to think about stuff like that, however, in school, they tell you not to use your calculator because they want to make sure that you understand the processes and how math works and all that other good stuff. some teachers let you use calculators on homework and tests, depending on what level math youre in. the higher level math, the more likely they are to ley you use them. in fact, when you take the some tests, including the SAT, they encourage you to use them. by the way, when it comes to homework, use the calculator, as long as you understand the material, it will save you time. then, if your teacher checks your homework, purposely get a few wrong, depending on how many you usually get wrong, and dont worry about it. relax, have fun

Surely you ask this in jest, the invention of computers has nothing to do with education. Government work, such as the census, military needs, such as code breaking, were both driving forces in the early invention of the computer.
When I began working with computers in the early sixties in business, we still used slide-rules in school. The was no desk top computer and certainly electronic calculator, and yet we were able to complete school assignments.
Education is about learning, it is not about getting the right answer to a question. That may sound paradoxical but it isn’t. Using a calculator may easily provide a correct answer, but does it help you understand the question and the process to the answer.
When you leave school you will use calculators, but you will also understand why a particular answer is correct, and that will make you a better employee with more career options. Anyone can be taught to punch a few buttons to generate a specific result, it is rare to find those who understand why that answer is generated.

Calculators were meant for the workplace to speed jobs along. They are a convenience, but we shouldn't make them a necessity. If you don't learn how to do math in your own head and with pen and paper, you'll be sunk the first time you don't have a calculator. That might not be too important if you have somebody with you who HAS learned their math, but what if you are alone? What if you can lose your job because you can't add five or six numbers together? Getting dependent on a calculator is a stupid thing to do.
You'd better hope that the people who make the calculators DO learn their math.

First enable me welcome you to what we want to call the US. for sure you're from out of city. Are you kidding? you won't be able to locate a single historic experience between those years? So Pearl Harbor wasn't quite bombed, JFK no longer assasinated, a international conflict wasn't fought? heavily, you look particularly literate what the heck is going on in colleges that no longer a single experience is composed of strategies? to no longer point out each and all the charges surpassed - Seperate yet equivalent being abolished - you have made me very unhappy.

calculators are the mathematical helpers used now which are the inheritors of adding machines and slip sticks ( aka slide rules ) which old timers grew up using.
