I believe so... I think that some things, such as games, can become addicting though repetition. They become a habit, like a soap opera or something. When they are finished you feel a void at the times when you once played, or watched them. But, other things like certain drugs, actually alter the chemicals in your body so that you feel that you can't live without them.

When doing an activity you enjoy you release dopamine which creates the sensation of pleasure. Your body likes this feeling and subconsciously craves it. So you want to keep doing the activity over and over to release more dopamine. At a certain point your brain gets used to the level of dopamine and it doesn't have the same effect that it used to so you crave it more and more but in larger quantities so that you can get the pleasure feeling again.

That's not really an addiction. Anything that makes your brain release dopamine, makes you happy and is addictive. Try smoking for a few years. Do cocaine a few times. Those are addictions...

yes I understand your question. When you find yourself interested in something or someone and feel that you need to repeatedly do something over and over then you have become compulsively addicted to it.

You have receptors for dopamine in your brain which make you feel pleasure when they are activated. Just like taking drugs.

anything can get addictive. If you do something repeatdly and still get satisfaction from it, you can get addicted to it, if your satisfaction gets lower and lower everytime you use it its either you try to do more of it to get the same satisfaction or you move on to something else.
