It's a breeze! Think about it, a tiny little pill inserted that is lubricated, not at all painful, when you are going to push a baby out of your vagina, a hole the size of a lemon, that's scary! You'll be fine!

An enema will not harm you or your baby. It is only warn water that they use to wash your stool out. Have you tried a suppository yet, as this may be less evasive for you?

Also, constipation is normal in pregnancy. By going in for an enema, you will be finding a solution for the constipation problem this time, but unless it's something you want to start doing once or twice a week, you should start taking some precautionary measures now. You can start by making sure you drink lots of water every day. Also, eating lots of fruit and vegetables will help, since it is filled with fiber. You can also start eating a high fiber cereal for breakfast, such as frosted mini-wheats. Caffine can be a laxative and help some people as well. Apple juice also helps soften stool, but has a lot of sugar so you don't want to overdo it. The things you'd want to avoid are bananas, rice, and dried breads (toast).

There is nothing to be scared about in fact they use to give a woman an enema before she had her baby. You can buy at the store a one time enema, meaning it is disposable. An enema is much better than letting your bowels become impacted and they have to with their hands take the bowel movement out. Also when you first get up drink some warm water or even better drink a cup of tea or coffee before you have breakfast because that will help you go naturally. Don't be scared of the enema and the best thing you can do it at home. Good luck and God Bless

Shouldn't hurt but will probably be uncomfortable and a bit embarrasing but the people doing it are used to it and normally very efficient and professional. Dr wouldn't recommend something that would hurt the baby

It is not dangerous for the baby, it will be uncomfortable when they it is given & cramping can be really bad! If the doc is giving it to you ask for some pain meds or if at home take tylonal prior.
