Zac Efron's (Troy) singing voice was that of composer Andrew (Drew)Seeley, who was also considered for the role. Seeley sang the entirety of "Get'cha Head in the Game" as well as composing it. He also sang the Reprise of "What I've Been Looking For". Efron only truly sings the first four sentences of "Start of Something New", the first sentence of "Breaking Free", and during the scene on the balcony. The reason for this is because Efron's natural voice is too low for that of a tenor and the producers preferred a tenor to match the role.

Drew Seeley and Zac Efron's voices were mixed because Zac's voice was too low. But he looked right. In my opinion, they should get someone who can act the part and sing it by themselves instead of looking for someone hot. Although Zac is not hot. He is a pretty-boy who is so full of himself.

quite he's observed by applying Drew Seeley, a DC singer on all HSm songs he sings. Zac sings the uncomplicated portion of a music and Drew sings the tight section as in Breaking loose or start up of something new.

Zac does most of the singing but because his voice is so low they blended his voice with Drew Seeley's during the higher parts. But to prove that he can sing you can listen to him on the balcony which is all him and he will be doing ALL of singing in Hairspary.

In an interview of him, he said that he sings all the alto parts, but his voice is combined with another singer who sings the higher notes. But he is part of a musical in broadway singing by himself.

Zac didn't sing the parts in HSM. Drew Seely sang for him. In the movie Hairspray, Zac will be singing with his real voice.
