questionable because every time historians find something they cant describe they state the civilizations used more men or its a coincidence , for example i remember reading the capstone on the pyramid is 3 hundred tons , how they got that up there is anyone guess historians say the Egyptians used about 200,000 men , basically its all guess work for them , i believe the Egyptians had help from more advanced society's because the pyramid as well as Stonehenge , the Mayan temples , etc. etc. all point to mars , y well historians say this is a coincidence

One interesting theory is the idea that they used kites to lift the blocks. Given a kite and some strong winds (such as the ones in Egypt), it's possible to lift some pretty heavy things, as impossible as it seems. The possibility was endorsed by a Caltech scientist. Using kites, it may have been possible to build the pyramids with less manpower than was previously thought.
Despite this, a lot of other researchers were extremely skeptical of the idea, especially given the fact that there are many ramps that were built around the pyramid. Whatever the method they used, it's completely amazing that humans were able to build something of this magnitude with so little technology and so little time (many were built with tight deadlines).
I'm also fascinated with what may lie within or underneath these pyramids. Just the fact that we still do not know everything about them adds to the whole mystique factor of it all.

They're awesome. I think they were built by humans, but that doesn't make them any less impressive. Really, it makes them MORE impressive, because you see what can happen when a lot of people get together to create something amazing. (And most of the workers were paid, not slaves.)
If there was something underneath, you'd have to dig or demolish the pyramids to find out. I don't want to weaken the structure by looking around under them.
I despise all the grave-robbers that have been stealing from Egyptian tombs since they were built and profiting from their theft. Such a shame! Those are priceless treasures, and if you can't leave them where they were put, at least put them in a museum.

To be honest I am fascinated with the pyramids but the truth is that many Egyptologists can only speculate how they were built and I don't think we will ever realy know the whole truth about these fascinating objects.
I do agree that they were built on slave labour but it was all for a good cause. As for what is underneath I think there would just be dirt but who know there could be more tunnels that we don't know about.

I think pyramids are great. The people of ancient Egypt built ramps to the pyramids to pull stones on top the the pyramid. Like how we build houses except they didn't use any cement stuff to hold it together. They tied something around the stones which weighed over 1 ton each and pulled them to move the stones. Quite amazing on how strong they were. And we already discovered that pyramids have gold treasures inside. And while trying to get to the egyptian's treasures, many people who looked for them died doing so by curses the egyptians casted. Like in king tut's pyramid, a man who was looking for treasures was sponsored by a greedy wealthy man who hired men to help him find treasures inside of the pyramid. When the men found the door and opened it, the man leading the project's canary (which was used for good luck) was eaten by a snake. They opened the second door and the man found out his doctor died. When they opened the third door, the man who sponsored him i believed he fell ill or something along those lines.

I think the building of the pyramids were a great marvel. But I dont think there were any volunteers. The egyptian kings sent the task masters to all families and round up all the males to build the pyramids under forced labour. There were quite a lot of them. Most of them died and did not see them being finished. I think the blocks were made of limestone. The brilliant architects drew the plan on papyrus and then showed it to the king and if he aproved they would start and build small ones and if they looked in proportion they would start and build full scale ones.. they were built layer by layer and by pulling it over tree trunks to the site. then they made a sloping bank up to the next level and heaved the next blocks up the slope until they reached the second level and continued until they reached the top.......can you imagine the pain and torture those poor slaves had.

I think a big element of possioble pyramid construction has been ignored, and that is the shape of the pyramid itself.
Pyramids have a sloping shape, perfect for sliding things up.
I speculate that egyptians could have used pulleys, maybe even a block-and-tackle style, to pull the blocks directly up the pyramid from the other side, instead of the massive diret ramps that most historians belive.

What a question for this time of night...
My brain was just slowing down but after reading through the answers, I'm gonna have to go to that conspiracy website one of the answers suggested and look into it...
Just to give you my opinion...
They were designed, if not built by an advanced civilisation (Atlanteans), when their island (would you credit it, in the middle of the Atlantic) sank, the few remaining survivors got in vehicles of some sort and dispersed on the resulting tidal waves, riding it to the nearest coast, (ie. eastern Africa via the Mediterranean and eastern coast of South and central America courtesy of El nino)..
There you have it..
Now I'm off to investigate that site that was mentioned

Pyramids in general were very GREAT. They were built by putting large stones on top of the others to the top. Pyramids are pyres that is mausoleum or graves. Burial places in Egypt. Pyramids contain mainly remains of dead people called Pharaohs.
Smile.
